Whilst these rankings will indicate how strong your hand is, it is important to understand the relative strength of your hand can vary from game to game. Royal Flush
The royal flush is the ultimate poker hand and is made by making a 5 card straight 10 through to Ace in the same suit:
(Ten Diamonds, Jack Diamonds, Queen Diamonds, King Diamonds, Ace Diamonds)
Straight Flush
A straight flush consists of a five card straight (excluding Ten – Ace) of the same suit, so can be made from Ace – Five (an ace can play as a low card aswell as a high card), all the way through to Nine – King.
(Four Clubs, Five Clubs, Six Clubs, Seven Clubs, Eight Clubs)
Four of a kind
As the name suggests, four of a kind (also known as ‘quads’) is made by having four cards of the same rank and one other ‘unmatched’ card.
(Three Clubs, Three Hearts, Three Spades, Three Diamonds, King Clubs)
